A blend of Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo and Merlot. The fruit being macerated (left on its skins and bunches in tanks) before the main fermentation. Aged in large oak barrels for four months after its fermentation. The total production for this wine, the estate's entry level wine was and still is only 100,000 bottles for world consumption. Dark ruby, almost black, with full, plummy fruit aromas yet extremely earthy and rustic. Ready to Drink?: Yes. While the wine is made for early consumption it is good enough to lay down for a few years too. Matches well with an Umbrian favorite; an omelette with grated fresh white truffles, roasted meats and game. |
